A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE —>Club History

In the vibrant soccer landscape of Montreal, the roots of our storied club, now known as Club de Soccer Rivière des Prairies (CSRDP), trace back to the visionary efforts of municipal leaders and the sports department in 1973. Entrusted with the task of nurturing young soccer talent, Coach Michele Facchino embarked on a journey that would lay the foundation for a lasting legacy.

Formally established in 1974 and initially christened as the Salesian Service Club, our organization quickly gained recognition for its commitment to fostering both individual player growth and a sense of community. After a few seasons, the club underwent a name transformation, solidifying its identity as Club de Soccer Rivière des Prairies.

The ensuing years saw CSRDP ascend to remarkable heights, with notable achievements on both the regional and national stages. The club's participation in several Canadian Championships culminated in the triumphant clinching of four titles, etching our name in Canadian soccer history.

Throughout the last decades, CSRDP has consistently asserted its dominance within the ARS Concordia Region. The club's prowess is exemplified by a string of victories, including coveted Summer and Winter Championships. A pinnacle moment arrived during the scorching Summer of 2016 when CSRDP secured an unprecedented seven President Cups, underscoring our relentless pursuit of excellence.

In recognition of our unwavering commitment and stellar performance, CSRDP proudly received the Club of the Year Prize three times in the last five years (2015, 2016, 2018). This accolade stands as a testament to the collective dedication of our players, coaches, and supporters.

The impact of CSRDP extends beyond the local arena, as evidenced by the notable journeys of players such as Jason Di Tullio, Abraham Francois, Rocco Placentino, and Mike Vitulano. These exceptional individuals honed their skills within the nurturing environment of CSRDP before ascending to the heights of university-level play or signing professional contracts.

As we reflect on our illustrious past, we remain committed to the principles of excellence, camaraderie, and community that have defined us since our inception. CSRDP's journey is one of resilience, triumph, and an unwavering passion for the beautiful game, and we look forward to continuing this legacy for generations to come.

WHERE DID WE GET OUR COLORS AND CREST?

So where did our colors come from? When the first team in our community was established, the Italian/Canadian Association made a donation of team sweaters.  They just happened to be red and white. In 1991, our club's present logo was designed and originated from a soccer team in France called Club Monaco. Today's colors of red, white and black evolved sometime during the late 1990's.

A word from the President

At our core, we believe in making soccer accessible to all. CSRDP is dedicated to crafting a holistic and positive soccer journey for players, coaches, referees, and parents alike. Placing the player at the epicenter of our endeavors, our primary focus revolves around the individual development of each participant on and off the pitch. We aspire to cultivate an environment within CSRDP that not only fosters a deep-rooted passion for soccer but also instills a sense of accomplishment, motivating players to sustain their engagement with the sport.

For coaches and referees, our commitment extends to continuous education, ensuring that the club's philosophy resonates across all members. CSRDP is not just a place to play soccer; it's a space designed for learning and reveling in the joy of the game. We win or we learn. Our operational strategies are meticulously aligned with our mission, vision, and values, reinforcing our dedication to providing a comprehensive and enriching soccer experience for everyone involved.
